Barnsley House, THE COTSWOLDS, UK
Joyce, a Floral & Event Designer and Stephen, a Landscape Architect, fell in love with picture perfect Barnsley House. They flew in from Hong Kong with their closest friends and family for an intimate garden party one sunny Monday afternoon. The gardens and grounds were a perfect fit for their professions, and Zita Elze brought the etheral floral dreams to life.
The couple’s passion for blooms even influenced their choice of venue. “We knew Barnsley House was the perfect place for us because it had such amazing gardens and inspiring landscape designs.” This 17th century country manor has a gothic summer house for outdoor ceremonies, which meant that the couple could exchange vows amid the stunning grounds. The varied flower-filled settings were also the ideal backdrops for Joyce and Stephen’s first photos as newlyweds.
The decor theme - Elegant and ethereal, based on a colour palette of white, pastel green and shades of pink - all brought into life through an abundance of botanicals, by using soft textured flowers, including clouds of ammi, scabies, fluffy astilbe and dainty, star-like astrantia. All of these created a sense of lightness on the day. Frothy arrangements bordered the aisle, while centrepieces at the indoor wedding breakfast added a delicate wash of colour complemented by the use of antique looking chiavari chairs, and a perfect family dinner next to a nicely decorated mantlepiece.
